REBEL
REBEL will transform the New China Town Barber Shop into a
social-political action playground.
Like putting together teams of marching bands for a parade,
REBEL REBEL brings together teams of artists to present various
commercial incentives, public services and creative programs,
inviting all to drum up, and take action in the face of Election
2004.
As neighborhood barbershops often serve
as potential meeting ground for commercial and communal activities,
the New China Town Barber Shop is the ideal place to attract
interactions amongst artists, tourists, consumers, merchants,
residents and community groups of Chinatown Los Angeles. From
a storefront providing haircut service, showcasing one-of-a-kind
t-shirts and posters, along with a radio broadcaster, the
barbershop is the ultimate location for voter registration.
Visitors to Chinatown are encouraged to transform themselves
from active consumers to active voters. For instance, anyone
can come into the barbershop, get a hair cut, listen to a
radio drama on the AM dial, purchase a poster, customize her
t-shirt, and most importantly, register to vote! |
